A Righteous Obsession
We are not trying to impress anyone. We want to maintain an obsession with God. We want to focus on the audience of “One”. If you're going to take a moment and look at this world we live in, resources are abundant. Unfortunately, everything is abundant, and yet it is never enough. Our human souls are thirsty for matters that do not have their roots in God. We want stuff that has nothing to do with God.
We are not just physical beings; we are also spiritual beings. God is capable of meeting our every need. He is not constrained by space or time. There is no place that is not fully present. God knows your needs before you know your needs. There is no space that He is unaware of. God knows all things perfectly well. God will never change. God’s character is eternal. God, who loves you in your good week, will still love you in your bad week. You can have confidence in knowing that when you approach God, He will be consistent. Your struggle is not a guess to God. He is a benevolent father, because we are in God’s hands. God is our source. God is a self-sufficient God. Time sits inside of eternity.
God is the source of all we need. We, as people of God we must stop treating God as a vending machine. God is our source. When something is a source, it never runs out. It generates continuously. You can go to the store to get something, but it is depleted because it is a resource and not the source. The more you experience God, the more you want to experience His presence.
David chose to have an obsession with the God of His salvation. David decided that God would become His obsession. Obsession is defined as an irrational connection to something. Not all sessions are unhealthy. We should want to be more like God than we want to be more like Mike.
His Intensity. David said Early will I seek thee. This focuses on the priority of seeking God. There has to be an overwhelming thirst for God. Lord, I want more of your presence. We don’t seek God as a casual thought. Seek God with passion as the deer panteth after the water brook.
